Cove Fort Historic Site

Ira Hinckley, his brother Arza and local workers built this volcanic rock fort in 1867, halfway between Beaver and Fillmore. Until the early 1880s it served travelers, the Pony Express and telegraph lines, and the families provided lodging and meals and ran a farm, blacksmith shop and small ranch. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers free tours led by missionaries; plan an hour to an hour and a half.
